This is our blog. Here you will get a glimpse into Function Point and, well, what makes us function! You will learn about each of us here at Function Point, about the software itself and any other cool things our team members choose to write about. Check back often and feel free to comment... our goal is to make this a fun, interactive and informative space.

Function Point New Web Site Launch

posted by Function Point at , Wednesday, July 15, 2009
We have launched our new website. New design, updates to videos, a complete redo. We want to thank two local design and technology firms that we collaborated on the project with. But we also want to thank the design community. Let me explain.

We are very pleased to have been working with Dave Coates and Rod Roodenburg at Ion Design (www.iondesign.ca) here in Vancouver. Dave and Rod pulled together the site design based on discussions that started over interest in a new landing page. I am so pleased you pushed me over some of those initial humps Rod.

On the technology side of the equation was Nate King and his team at Twisted Lime. We had been working with Ion for the design aspects and wanted a partner able to work on pulling together the content management tool. Twisted Lime (www.twistedlimemedia.com) had the experience that we wanted with Drupal and they also had additional expertise with their codewise technology. We were an easy sell.

Both firms have been clients of Function Point, using our web based timesheet and project management solution and working with clients was important to us. Keeping track of our project must have been a snap and perhaps we should have asked to see the status and cost recovery reports. But let's say we have been really pleased.

But that is just the first degree of separation. Both relationships were started through connections with other firms. A staff person at Ion had talked with another client of ours, Creative Spirit communications (www.creativespirit.bc.ca) and Nate's partner at Twisted Lime is married to Michelle at Now Communications a firm using our services for years. Nate had also done an investigation into Function Point while at B3 Communications, yet another client in the community.

So as I right this blog, because as you know..you need to have a blog and you need to be active on Twitter, Linked In, etc, etc, etc, I can't help but think of simple interaction amongst ourselves and being passionate about the space we work in while sticking at it with commitment. A passion we see in so many of the firms we have the pleasure of working with.

So as we move forward with the reinvention of Function Point visually as a brand and functionally through major new components being released over the next year I want to thank the design community at large.

We love what we do because of the relationships we have with the community we serve, here in Vancouver, across North America and in the UK, Australia and Asia.

Now if I could only find a copywriter to help me with my writing.....
