Hi All!
I am writing today to provide you with an update on the Function Point Beta 8.1 program and the plan moving forward.Version 8.1 is now ready for full production use.
On October 19th, 2010 at 6:00pm pacific time we will be switching version 8.1 from Beta to production. This will move the primary log-in to the new system and permit SSL log in. The old system will be available from a secondary URL until November 2, 2010.
Since early August you have had access to the next version of Function Point. Version 8.1 will contiinue to be available from a link on the log-in page or navigating directly to http//beta.functionpoint.com prior to the official launch. If you have not had a close look we recommend you do so.
A few of the improvements include:
. New Interface Design
. Drag and Drop Estimate Creation / Edit Routines
. Tabbed Detail Pages
. Screen re-sizing
. Support for Internet Explorer 8 (coming October 19th)
These major items have been complimented with hundreds of other smaller changes, resulting in a more natural user experience.
We have received many unsolicited comments about the upgrade, and here are a couple of them:
“MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR, UPSCALE IMPROVEMENT TO THE UI!!!“ Jerry Suhrstedt, Heavy Guerilla.
“I am extremely happy with the changes that have been made with this new update and find it so much more user-friendly to work on estimates in the system.” Janet De Young, Foerstel Design.
There is much more to come as we push on the product road map.
Should you have any concerns with regards to our plan or our future roadmap, I encourage you to reach out to me personally. Your comments and suggestions are very important.
